Cherrybrook Kitchen Mixes on Sale

Here's a shopping tip for those of you living in New England, or at least Connecticut, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island--Ocean State Job Lot has Cherrybrook Kitchen mixes (egg-free, dairy-free, peanut-free and tree nut-free) on sale for about $3.50. That is about $3 less than the going rate at Shaws Supermarket. Hurry though because there weren't many mixes left when we went this weekend. We found both chocolate and yellow cake mixes.

Hmm. Do you think it is odd that they are on sale everywhere? I hope they aren't going under! The ones I bought aren't "due" till 2010. Wonder what this is all abut--that is a pretty big discount in a bunch of places. I think you're not in NE, so that means significant markdowns all over?

The CBK frosting here (in a tub ready-to-spread) is $3.29. I make my own, usually. This is my emergency supply for last minute birthdays.

I've tried the vanilla frosting. It's kind of a weird consistency....slightly translucent and stretchy is the only way I can describe it. It's definitely not like Betty Crocker ready made frosting. The taste is ok though. I hope they aren't going out of business. I LOVE their chocolate cake mix.

Well, I actually called CBK to ask why the low prices. They said they are NOT going out of business, just some stores bought in bilk. Phew!!

Yeah, the frosting is a little unusual. But, for convenience with the major food allergies you can't beat it! I mean, wow, frosting in a tub!
