New Peanut-Free & Gluten-Free Candies

Have you heard about Sixlets candy? They’re colorful small chocolate flavored candies--made from carob, I believe--with a candy coating. And they are manufactured in a peanut-free, tree nut-free facility. SweetWorks, the manufacturer, contacted me recently to share news of two new flavors: P-Not flavored Sixlets and More Chocolatey Sixlets. The “original” and new “more chocolatey” flavors are gluten-free too. We had some of the new Sixlets recently and were impressed--the P-Not Sixlets taste remarkably like peanut butter but they’re not! It’s incredible. They’re a perfect fix for those “peanut-avoiding purists” who miss the taste of peanut butter candies. And the More Chocolatey Sixlets are a good candy fix too. Good info to keep in mind for those times when you find yourself near the candy aisle or the candy shop!

Sixlets Allergen Information

"More Chocolatey Sixlets and original Sixlets
More Chocolatey Sixlets and original Sixlets are gluten free, peanut free and nut free. They are made in a peanut and tree nut free facility. This product has some allergens - (Soy) lecithin & (Milk) whey powder.

P-Not Butter Sixlets
P-Not-Butter Sixlets do not contain peanuts or tree nuts. They are made in a peanut and tree nut free facility. This product shares some allergens - (Soy) lecithin (Milk) whey powder, as that of our regular Sixlets. Also, our raw material supplier for P-Not Butter Sixlets cannot guarantee presence of gluten in the soy flour that we use for P-Not Butter Sixlets, so we must say that this product may contain gluten as a precautionary statement.

Cross Contact
To prevent cross contamination of P-Not Butter Sixlets with our other Sixlets, we implement production scheduling to prevent cross contact and cleaning & sanitation validation procedures (ATP) to monitor cleaning efficiency. We also pack these two products separately on separate packaging lines."

I don't think I have ever heard of these. Are they just a New England thing?? The thought of eating something that tastes like PB but isn't sounds great. I'm a former PB-aholic. That's probably why Tyler is allergic. :(

By the way, I didn't notice typos. But you made me laugh by leaving that comment. I hate it when I realize I made a boo-boo on someone else's blog!!

Have a great day!!

I was contacted by the company that makes Sixlets and I'm afraid I wasn't, let's say, very receptive.

My problem is this: one of my daughter's first clues to her nut allergy was her aversion to peanut candy. Since PB has made her puke and have anaphylaxis in the past, that last thing I want in my house is stuff that looks or tastes like it.

Am I in the minority here? I just don't think "fake" nuts or peanuts are something to have around allergic kids. If the parents want to indulge, that's another story.

Robyn, I am not sure if Sixlets are limited to New England. I think I usually see them around Halloween. Check stores near you then. They may be on amazon.com; I'll check around.

Jenny, I agree with you--I think the P-Not Butter Sixlets would be most popular among those who are NOT allergic to peanuts. Maybe good for those who live with a loved one with PA, but miss Reeses Pieces? I do not purchase fake peanut butter foods, but I think people are definitely interested candy manufactured in a peanut-free, tree nut-free facility. My husband (not PA) thought the P-Nots were great but both of my children--like yours--detest anything even remotely similar to peanuts. The smell and taste of PB disgusts them. The kids did, however, like the chocolatey ones quite a bit.
